Lubpon’s tampons are made of organic pure viscose and cotton (derived from plant fibre and 100% biodegradable) with a smooth cover consisting of polyester/polyethene (100% recyclable) to help prevent fluff. And a big yes, the cellophane tampon wrapper is biodegradable.

Lubpon’s tampons are 100% pure, free from the specific harmful chlorine and bleach treatments banned by authorities as well as free from parabens and fragrances.

Instructions “Dip it, Slip it” (minimise touching the clean tampon and aim to insert as fast as possible.):

1 to 4. Unwrap the finger cover over your index finger. Pop the tampon wrapper open by using the same motion as breaking a twig, then twist. Remove the bottom part of the wrapper.

5. Uncurl the withdrawal cord taking care not to pull tampon fibres with it.
Gripping the cord in the middle of your palm.

6. and 7. Grip the top of the cord firmly as close as possible to the tampon then remove the top part of the wrapper.

8. to 11. Grip the cap of the bottle in your palm. Dip the tip of the tampon in the lube by no more than 1.5cm, slightly rubbing excess lube on the rim of the bottle to prevent droplets from spilling everywhere. A little goes a long way.

12. and 13. Close the little bottle, placing it somewhere. Relax, slip the tampon in and upwards to the small of your back, avoiding your urethra as far as possible.

14. Make sure it is pushed in by at least the length of your top finger lid and by half the second lid. The focus is not to feel the tampon after insertion and it must be past the opening of your urethra.

    15. The withdrawal string must hang outside of your vagina. You can roll it up in a little ball for more comfort as long as it is still outside your vaginal opening. Wrap the finger cover in some toilet paper or in a bag if provided and dispose in the bin. Do the same with the used tampon. Don’t dispose directly in the toilet.

Lubpon’s unscented tampons are FDA registered, GOTS and ISO certified, available in the following absorbencies:

More about our choice of lube. Research has shown that any organic lube consisting of water, aloe vera and any organic oil to name a few, can adversely affect your natural vaginal bacterial flora. This can lead to thrush or bacterial vaginosis (BV) as the natural pH balance is disrupted by causing over or under production of one or more of these bacterial species. You can also develop allergic reactions to any of these organic ingredients.

Also proven is the fact that silicone oil based personal lubricants do not affect the pH balance or any other detrimental bearing on the species that make up the vaginal bacterial flora. As it is hypoallergenic, the possibility of allergic reactions is almost non-existent which is the main reason why the medical and cosmetic industries use silicone in most of their products.

Lubpon’s high purity specially formulated medical grade silicone based lube consists of Dimethicone and Dimethiconol conforming to ISO 13485 standards.

Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is a very rare but concerning medical condition affecting men and women with an estimated 3 fatalities per year in the UK. Women using tampons, tampons with applicators, Mirenas, menstrual cups, menstrual sponges, diaphragms, and anything else that can potentially irritate the epithelium lining that provides a barrier to toxin producing bacteria, run the risk of TSS.

TSS symptoms are much like severe flu and usually include some or all the following: a sudden high fever (usually over 39°C), vomiting, diarrhoea, muscle aches, a sun burn like rash, sore throat, dizziness and/or fainting. You can read more about TSS at www.tssis.com.

Most TSS cases clear up by themselves but seek medical care immediately if you think your symptoms are worsening. Remove the tampon and inform the medical professional of the use of a tampon or any other item.

Thus, when there is not enough moisture, the risk of damaging the lining is very high. This is the main reason behind Lubpon’s development of our specially formulated lube with tampons to help prevent damage to the epithelium skin lining and minimise the risk of menstrual TSS, with the bonus of making insertion 1000% more comfortable.

      Take care to:

      • Wash your hands before and after inserting the tampon as toxin producing bacteria can be on your hands.
      • Change your tampon every 4-8 hours.
      • Alternate between tampons and pads during your period.
      • Only have one tampon at a time in your vagina.
      • Don’t use a tampon if you don’t have your period.
      • Try and use pads instead of tampons during the night if you are going to sleep longer than 8 hours.
      • Try using the right absorbency tampon for your flow.
      • Use a fresh tampon before going to bed and remove it first thing when you wake up.
